Sharon Stone Recalls Meeting Queen Elizabeth II: 'I Experienced Her'

Actress Sharon Stone remembers meeting Queen Elizabeth II in a candid Instagram post shared several hours after Her Majesty passed away on Thursday, September 8.

The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.

At 1:30 PM ET, The Royal Family released a brief statement which read, “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”

Many celebrities have taken to social media to pay tribute to the late Queen, including many that had personal encounters with the 96-year-old legend.

In a candid Instagram post, the 64-year-old actress recalled meeting Queen Elizabeth II and what she was like in person.

“I had the extraordinary experience to be invited by Her Majesty The Queen of England to join in her box for a polo match and to meet Her,” she wrote. “Formidable, stunning, elegant, and yet underneath I could sense a whisper of delicious humor. She appraised me w her cool authority and sent me on my way.”

“I felt seen. I experienced Her,” she continued. “I keep Her photo hanging near. That sense of knowing thy self is a guidepost. For whom do we serve if not the other! God Bless the Queen❣️.”

Many fans and followers thanked her for her thoughtful tribute. “As promised, she gave a life of service, until her dying day…Absolute incredible nobility, grace, and leadership,” one fan commented. “Our world leaders need to take a plate from her playbook if they want to gain an ounce of respect🌹🇬🇧👑♥️.”

“That my dear is an endearing reflection of experience that speaks volumes to being in the presence of one who was laced in grace & true British dignity as my Irish father once said of her majesty,” another follower wrote. “Great writing as always, you took us there👏👏.”

“Wild Things” actress Denise Richards, 51, also took to Instagram to share a photo of Queen Elizabeth II with her beloved dogs.

“Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll a lifetime of service with class, strength & dignity,” she wrote. “My deepest condolences to the Royal Family and to the entire UK.”

Many fans thanked her for her thoughtful tribute as well, with many writing, “Well said” and “RIP.”

“Queen Elizabeth II spoke about the Covid pandemic on a very human level. She conveyed that the separation of family and friends would be painful, but, ultimately, the right thing to do to protect each other,” one fan commented. “For her long and amazing legacy, this is what I’ll remember most about her. She stepped up during this hardship and showed her human side in a very real way! RIP.”

American model Sofia Richie, the youngest daughter of singer Lionel Richie and sister of TV personality Nicole Richie, also took to Instagram to pay her respects with two photographs of the Queen.

“Elegance, class, dedication, and hard work,” she captioned the two snaps. “One of the greatest role models there ever was. RIP to the queen 🤍.”

Although some famous friends commented with teary-eyed emojis and red heart emojis, there was a bit more criticism on her post, including one user who wrote, “Hard work definitely not… but ok.”

“Star Wars” alum Mark Hamill, responsible for bringing the character of Luke Skywalker to life, paid tribute to the late Queen by sharing four photographs of her throughout the years on his Instagram page.

“After assuming the throne at the age of 25, Elizabeth reigned for an astonishing 70 years,” he quoted before adding, “An extraordinary life. An extraordinary leader.” He concluded with the hashtag #RIPQueenElizabethII.

“What an incredible woman and what an amazing life she led,” one fan commented. “Rest easy, the crown is a heavy burden to bear and you bore it well. 😢.” Another follower agreed, adding, “Her stability and kindness will be missed.”

“30 Rock” actor Alec Baldwin kept his caption simple. He wrote, “Requiscat in pace…” which is a Latin blessing with Roman Catholic ties that means “may they begin to rest in peace.”
